Prolete wanted to change this by creating a platform where young athletes could easily share their career highlights and scouts could efficiently search for talent across sports and locations. The challenge was to design and build a mobile experience that made video-centric profiles performant, searchable, and appealing for both athletes and professional scouts.

Athletes can create profiles, upload and curate highlight videos, and showcase key stats, while scouts gain powerful search and discovery tools to find promising talent. Under the hood, the platform is optimised for handling large volumes of video content, ensuring smooth playback and responsive browsing even as the content library grows.

How we got there
Our approach combined mobile-first UX, performance-focused video handling, and a robust backend. Using Flutter for the front end allowed us to deliver a native-feeling experience across platforms with a single codebase. Node.js powers backend services for scalability and API reliability. For video encoding and optimisation, we integrated FFMPEG via C++, enabling efficient processing, compression, and playback of uploaded content. We focused on keeping the app responsive under high load so users could browse, upload, and watch highlights without lag, even when the feed is dense with video.
